Mary Winkler Update - She Wants to Stay in Jail?

@ 08:15 PM (28 months, 2 days ago)

What is going on here?  Are her genius/attorneys going to keep everything hush hush and then spring a never heard of before defense?

SELMER, Tenn.  — A minister's wife charged with shooting her husband to death waived her right to a preliminary hearing Thursday.

The judge ordered Mary Winkler, who has been charged with first-degree murder, to be held in custody until her next court appearance after her lawyers told the court she was not seeking a bond.

Speaking to the press outside the courthouse, her lawyers said there were a number of reasons why bond was not sought.

"Her condition is pretty fragile," defense attorney Leslie Ballin said. "We think it is in her best interest not have bond at this time."

Another member of the defense team, Steve Farese, said that while his client had been a part of every decision involved in the case, she was "having a difficulty staying on point."

They also said Mary Winkler wanted to try to protect her three young daughters from painful details that would emerge at such a hearing.

"We feel it does no one any good to hear bad things said about the mother of children. We don't feel that it does anyone any good to hear gruesome things about their late father," Farese said.

  1. Here's were all the duct tape is going. It's about time Lawyers in high profile cases remain silent in an effort to serve their client instead of personal gain, for once!

  5. It is very difficult not to make your own assumptions on what we have heard and seen so
far. I am wondering why such a dream team defense for this particular case? What is
being kept in the dark?:???:

  8. :???:Let us leave this in God's hands for judgment; because we know with the law that way it is today, she will be judged different by the world no matter what judgment she gets from the wonderful court system.

I have a friend that is in jail for murder and he did it seemly in self-defense, but because it was a cop having an affair with his wife and the cop was killed, he is jail for years to come. It just depends on who kill and whom they work for, on what kind of punishment you get.

  12. Looks like her dream defense team worked very well.
    Thank goodness.
I would bet that the label "The Ugly Comming Out"
was a favorite coined phase from Matthew's Mother.
This was what she probably told him as a little boy
when he acted up. Seems that he has always acted up, even into adult life.
Do you believe that he loved his family and treated
him wife like that? That was the "Devil in Matthew
    coming out."
