Jefferson and Elnora Calimlim Found Guilty of Imprisoning Illegal Alien Philippino Maid - Don't Get Any Ideas Kennedys

@ 09:11 PM (24 months, 15 hours ago)

Woman earned just $18,000 over 19 years.

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- A federal jury found a wealthy suburban couple guilty Friday of harboring an illegal immigrant and forcing her to work as their maid for 19 years.

The Filipino national testified during the eight-day trial that she felt like a prisoner in Jefferson and Elnora Calimlim's home.

The couple was found guilty of harboring an illegal immigrant for financial gain, conspiracy to harbor an illegal immigrant for financial gain, forced labor and attempted forced labor.

Their eldest son, 31-year-old Jefferson M. Calimlim, was found guilty of harboring an illegal immigrant, one of three charges against him.

Irma Martinez testified she worked 16 hour days for minimal pay for the couple, physicians who are legal residents of the United States but citizens of the Philippines.

The Calimlims face prison, fines, deportation and forfeiture of their $1.2 million home when sentenced September 15. Their U.S.-born son faces prison and fines.

Can you imagine a poor imprisoned maid having to clean the Kennedy compound with a toothbrush?

  1. At least she would know where to gain access to the alcohol at the Kennedy compound. Might make her day go faster. This is an awful story. I sure there a many more like them. They should receive the same punishment the maid was forced to live with for 19 years.

  2. What shameful treatment given to somebody that is already disadvantaged by education and financial standing. Are the Calimlims really educated and what kind of school trains professionals this way?

  3. The calimlims would not last 2 days if they are treated like they have treated their slave. "Me wash dishes? how dare you"

  4. Hi! Esie, it is really heartbreaking especiall for filipinos for maltreating other people as in this casa same Filipino whose main purpose in coming here is to find a greener pasture. The Calimlims deserved to be punished for all the consequences they did. By the way are the same Elsie P we know way back in 1973-74 section one under Ms. Aranda at HAC Angeles City. 7. I am glad the Calimlims are getting the punishment they deserve, but why didn't the maid just leave or get some help? Obviously, the women is not all that brilliant. Before the law got a hold of them, the maid should have got herself a lawyer and made the Calimlim's pay HER the 400K she should have earned in the 18 years. Or else they could lose everything and end up someone's b*tch in prison...which is what they are in for.

  8. That's a good point K...maybe the maid had other issues.

  9. The woman was threatened with deportation and probably had limited language skills. The Calimlims fed her, gave her a roof over her head, and she was "supposedly" earning money. Those are better conditions than being poor in the Philippines. I'm not justifying anything that the Calimlims did, but I think it's bigotted to think that the woman could just pick up the phone and dial a lawyer.

  11. What model car does the calimlim have that needed to washed by hand because the brushes at the car wash was to rough for this expensive car? instead of owning a lot of expensive cars, could this family not at least pay their maid minimum wage, after all she works long hours.

  12. I think it's a Flintstone mobile. They are banned from most car washes because the stone damages the machinery.

  13. You are so clever, those were the days that slavery was still in place. too bad this family does not realize what century it is now:oops:

  14. Gee whiz gerald greenberg...since you are the brain surgeon why don't you let anyone who cares what you have to say know what century it is?

  15. if only you knew the real story behind all this. it's not a case about slavery, like the press suggests. it's about revenge, pure and simple. some b!tch gets divorced from one of the kids that this maid took care of and she revenge to save her reputation. so don't go judging things that you know nothing about. there a whole bigger issue here that is being left out.

  16. pray tell, where do you live, “Filipino who knows".
the authorities might just be interested to know if you too harbor a filipina illegally and in servitude for peanuts.
the jurors no doubt saw thru this couples lack of scruples, in spite of their elite education from UP. they broke the law by harboring an illegal, they robbed her of her rightful fruits of her labor by paying her pittance, and they would not even bother to become citizens of this country where they have prospered because of the opportunities it offered them, which they denied this poor girl. every day a mexican dies trying to cross the borders for the privilege of being a citizen of this great country.
they should be thankful, in spite of what they did, that their retirement years are spent in the relative comfort of the prison system provided for by the public’s taxes.
