Obama Crushes Hillary in Selma Who is Blacker Battle

@ 08:57 PM (33 months, 3 days ago)

Compliments of Dick Morris.  Morris' comments are especially insightful due to his intimate relationship with the Clintons spanning decades.

Selma: Battleground for the Afro-American Vote

Today’s appearances by Hillary and Obama in Selma, Alabama mark the beginning of a public battle for the Afro-American vote. As mentioned above, Obama resoundingly grabbed the lead from Hillary last week. But she’s not giving up – not by any means!

Hillary lobbed one back at him by arranging to speak at another Baptist Church in Selma at the exact same time that Obama was scheduled to give his own speech. And, just so the folks in Selma don’t forget who she is, Bill Clinton accompanied his wife – his first campaign appearance with her since she announced.

Remember when author Toni Morrison called Bill Clinton “the first Black President?”  Well, the Clinton campaign wants to remind black voters that Bill will be right next to Hillary in the next Clinton Administration. His message: This white woman is better than that black man – she’s got me, she’s got experience, and we’ve both been there for you.

But if audience reaction to their respective speeches means anything, Obama is still ahead. He spoke confidently and called Selma “ the ‘ground zero’ for a movement that spread hope and inspiration to oppressed people throughout the world.”

Repeatedly interrupted by standing ovations, Obama laid claim to the heritage of Selma and the civil rights movement: “If it hasn’t been for Selma, I wouldn’t be here,” Mr. Obama said. “This is the site of my conception. I am the fruits of your labor. I am the offspring of the movement. When people ask me if I’ve been to Selma before, I tell them I’m coming home.”

Hillary tried to do the same, claiming that it was the Voting Rights Act that permitted women to enter politics. (apparently overlooking the 19th Amendment and confusing Susan B. Anthony with Martin Luther King Jr.) But, she didn’t rouse the crowd – even when she screeched a series of ‘what matters.’ (health care, Iraq, U.S. reputation in the world) Her text was compelling, but she’s never been an emotional speaker, so her delivery was flat.

One wonders if Selma will be the defining ‘ground zero’ for Obama, much as another ‘ground zero’ further north was for Rudy Guiliani.

  1. It's odd, but usually when partisan cocksuckers like you line up to bash the opposition, it's because you're out of power and they're in.

It's almost as though you've given up on the 08 election already.

  2. Rob, Can you translate this convoluted mess you wrote. I tried my damnest to bring myself down to your level but I can't get down past a 4yo's intelligence level. I commend you for useing words like partisan and opposition but damn, you lost me when you said "out of power" and "giving up".

  4. It appears the art of reasoning escapes you Rob. Also reading. All of us liberals want to know who is won the 'who is blacker' contest Hillary started. Who do you think won Rob?

  5. Hmmm. Reasoning escapes me, Julio. A coherent sentence seems to escape you.

Poor old realist. Which word, specifically? Out? Power? Given? I hate to pass up an invite to a pissing contest, but highlighting your own ignorance doesn't score you a point.

This blog reminds me of that conservative "comedy" half hour on Fox. It's great at self-congratulation. Not so great on actual humour. Or debate. Or, indeed, anything approaching a sense of context. But you kids blather on. I'm assuming that you're safer in here than out on the streets.

  6. Hmmmm. Who is winning the Rob vs. Rob pissing contest? Let me guesss...could it be Rob?

  7. Rob, Let me make this as simple as I can so that you can understand it. My grasp of words are fine. What I have a problem with is YOUR logic, or lack thereof. Your use of the word "ignorance" is typical for someone that cannot argue their point and therefore try to make the other person bow out. I know for a fact that I am not ignorant. Therefore, your use of that word only proves to show who the truely ignorant person is.

Now that we have that out of the way. Lets dissect what you wrote.

when partisan cocksuckers like you line up to bash the opposition

Let me get this straight. Partisan cocksuckers bashing opposition... Interesting...Isnt that what YOU are attempting to do when you came here making stupid comments that does not address the issue? I suppose that makes you a "partisan cocksucker" that is bashing YOUR opposition. As for the "debate" part... I dont see your comments about the issue. Therefore there is no debate on that issue. Since you did NOT address the issue, the "context" is moot.

Had you bothered to address the issue of "who actually won between Obama and Hillary in the who is blacker?" You would have come to the same conclusion that everyone else did. Obama's approval rating went up 10 points and Hillary's declined by 10 points among the black population. Therefore, the winner is Obama. If you had used your own reasoning power you may have come to that conclusion yourself. But I actually see you for what you are.. a follower..you simply spit out the same garbage that someone else tells you.

Now go back to MSNBC or CNN and learn some new words or better yet, finish 12 grade then maybe I will consider you a worthy adversary. Until then you are simply nothing but a puppet of the Liberal's, who cannot make decisions on their own and needs to rely on typical liberal tactics of avioding the issue.

I apologize for my "colorful" language on your site. I feel that in order to communicate you have to be able to speak the same language.
